The Science Week in 2020 was held on line due to the impact of the pandemic, which caused a lot of restrictions to the creation of kids. To everyone’s pleasure, the Science Week in 2021 has been launched offline as planned. Being excited about the opportunity to fully exploit their talent, students started working on the theme works of the Science Week ahead of time, and their wonderful works are expected at the end of the event. Now, let’s review the highlight works of the Science Weeks in the past years!
To enrich the campus life of teachers and students, enhance student’ interest in learning science, further expand their horizons and make them understand the profound influences of science on society, production and life, the theme activities of the Science Week will be organized during May 10th-14th in VKBS. The projects carefully selected by STEAM team for the activities will enable students to grasp the essence of the courses on science topics effectively in one week. The projects include Exhibition and Performance of Science Topics, Comprehensive Experience of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Original Book Fair of the Science Week, Science Popularization Lectures of the Science Week, STEAM Science Education Summit, Opening Ceremony of the “Space Farm” and Emergency Food Tasting, etc.
UAVs are high-tech products widely applied in various fields of science and technology, including agriculture, photography, low-altitude adventure, performance and communication information. Right at the fifth anniversary of the school, UAVs are used for thematic performances. Part of the low-altitude UAV photography, as well as the experience of senior students on UAVs, is a combination of science and technology, art and competition, which plays a very effective role in the popularization of science. It also serves as an opportunity for participants to exercise their hands and mind.
The Original Book Fair is one of the theme activities in the Science Week, where students can purchase science books and learning box sets in English they like. VKBS aims to provide kids with a broader learning platform, so that they can choose more professional science and technology books and learning resources while learning textbook knowledge.
She is a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and an aircraft design engineer at GKN Aerospace. She graduated from the Cranfield University (UK) as an undergraduate majoring in aircraft design and from The Technical University of Madrid (Spain) as a graduate majoring in aerospace engineering.

The World of Magnetic Resonance

冯冲 Feng Chong
The General Manager of the Shanghai Tainiu Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.
He got his doctorate degree at the Institute of Estuary and Coastal Research, East China Normal University majoring in marine chemistry. During his PhD’s study, his research interests included the migration of metal elements in the ocean atmosphere and the study of lead isotopes. He focuses on the transformation of the accumulation of nuclear magnetic resonance (MRI) technology in the field of scientific research into K12 classroom, and provides the overall solution of research learning based on MRI.
In the course of STEAM Mars Exploration Project, students will make models for Mars exploration themselves. In a “space farm” set up by the school to grow corn, cowpeas, cucumbers, Cucurtbita maxima Duch., space peppers, eggplants, tomatoes and other space vegetables, children will learn about the hard work by experiencing the planting processes (breeding, transplanting, growing, and fruit harvesting), and observe and record the similarities and differences between space breeding and common varieties. The “space farm” can provide students with more opportunities of practice, stimulate their imagination and creativity, enrich their learning experience and develop their interest in learning science.
