2021 Musical Alice in Wonderland



6月25日,我们的Blackbox里上演着精彩的音乐剧《爱丽丝梦游仙境》演出。每一个孩子都将成为爱丽丝,去追逐心中所想、化茧成蝶的时刻;每一个孩子都有一个角色,展现自己最自信的样子;每一个孩子都有闪光点,在音乐剧舞台上留下最美好的身影和不可复制的足迹。

On June 25, there was a wonderful musical “Alice in Wonderland” in our Blackbox. Every child becomes Alice, pursuing the moment to realize their dreams. Everyone plays a role in the musical, showing their full confidence, and all of them have their respective advantages, leaving the most beautiful figures and unrepeatable footprints on the musical stage.




Alice in Wonderland音乐剧,由于疫情等原因,经历了重重挑战终于等到了华丽的绽放。这次音乐剧是中学部全员参与的课题,它也是本学期课程内容的一部分。音乐组老师对于音乐剧的相关课程设计,分为三个阶段。首先让学生们了解什么是音乐剧?音乐剧中常用的特殊名词含义。其次,老师为了培养学生们的创造力,给他们每一个剧中的片段,让他们根据自己的理解进行演绎并且排序。此外,老师介绍剧中的所有角色,以及讲解角色需要表演的详细内容,学生可以自行选择想要担当的角色。最后便是漫长的排练过程了。

Alice in Wonderland, due to the pandemic and other reasons, had experienced many challenges and finally witnessed its magnificent bloom. Our musical is a project that all the members of the secondary school participate in and it is a big part of the music course this semester. In the course arrangement, we first let the students understood what a musical is, and the meaning of some special terms used in musicals. Next, to develop their creativity, we give each student one segment of the musical and let them act it out according to their own understanding. After that, we introduce all the characters in the musical to the students and explain to them how to well play the characters. Students can choose the role they want to play. Lastly, we have long-time rehearsals.

The core literacy of our 5C5R is reflected in all subject courses and every theme activity. Let’s see what students have gained in the preparation and performance of the musical?


1. Creativity 创造


演员们在拿到角色后,首先会对自己的角色有一个充分的了解。在这期间他们会去通读剧本,观看阅读相关的影视和书籍,在自己所演角色的基础上再创造,加入自己的想法。因此每一个演员所演绎的角色都是与他们的个性融为一体,独一无二的。

After getting roles, the actors will first have a full understanding of their roles. During this period, they will read through the script, watch related movies, read related books and recreate the role by putting their own ideas. Therefore, each role played by the actors is unique by integrating their personalities.


2. Reflection 自省


在排练期间,对于同一段台词或是表演,演员们都会进行多次的重复,在反复的磨练中找到自己每一次练习中值得保留的部分和需要改进的部分,直至能够完美的呈现这个角色。

During the rehearsal, the actors repeat the same line or performance many times. In the repeated training, students retain the appropriate parts and improve those not that perfect. They keep improving until they can perfectly play the role.


3. Responsibility 责任感


排练的过程非常艰辛,会占用很多的课余时间以及作业课时间,学生们需要在完成排练任务的基础上,完成其他学科的作业,并保证每一次排练都不缺席(排练缺少一次就可能会错失很重要的细节)。

We have many difficulties in the rehearsal process. For example, it takes up a lot of spare time and homework time. Students need to complete the homework of other subjects after the rehearsal tasks, and ensure that they are not absent from every rehearsal (If they miss one rehearsal, they may miss important details).


4. Confidence and Risk-taking

自信心和勇气


演出的过程,就是考验学生们拿出自信以及勇气的时候。在舞台搭建正式完成后,同学们第一次在真正的舞台上彩排,在聚光灯之下,把自己的角色演绎出来。台下精心的练习,全部在等待台上一分钟的闪光。

The performance is the time to test the students’ confidence and risk-taking. When the stage is set up, the students rehearse on the real stage for the first time and perform their roles under the spotlight. The meticulous practice under the stage is for the one-minute highlights on stage.
