If you find yourself in any of these categories, you need to take care of yourself!

Undoubtedly, we are closest to ourselves, and will live with ourselves for a lifetime, thus it is indispensable for us to learn about ways to know and accept ourselves in each stage of our life. How we take care of ourselves and accept ourselves is embodied in our daily company with ourselves, including whether we healthily go through every day, smoothly accomplish daily assignment and task, and stay calm in face of various influences.

Meantime, it is also embodied in how we get along with others and the surroundings, whether we can sincerely concern for others and the surroundings we live in, both of which can be closely associated with how we treat ourselves.

Taking care of ourselves is actually a matter of awareness of our emotions, awareness of the necessity to do something to make us feel better, and its goal lies in adherence to our needs and baseline, lies in proper management of our emotions within a controllable and steady range, and lies in the pursuit for a higher-quality and more purposeful life.

A truly happy acceptance of ourselves is to accept all of ourselves, including the shining points and the deficiencies which together make up who we are, owing to these individual characteristics, each one of us exist uniquely, and only by full awareness of our advantages and disadvantages and full acceptance of them can we really live a highly-satisfactory life with quality.

The general theme of the second annual Mental Health Month is: Self-caring and Self-accepting. The aim is to arouse the attention of teachers and students to their mental health through the form of publicity and activity participation of Mental Health Month. Guide students to know self-exploration, self-care, self-protection, and at the same time learn to help each other, promote the mental health of students.

我们希望通过一系列活动让全体师生拥有以下的心理意识和能力：

We hope all teachers and students can get these psychological awareness and skills:

1.自我关怀：了解自我关怀的重要性，学习如何在日常生活中进行自我关怀；

Self-caring: understand the importance of self-caring and learn how to take care of yourself in daily life.

2.预防自杀和自伤：认识生命的意义和价值，学会珍爱生命，当发现身边人如有自杀和自伤倾向和行为时学会如何处理；

Prevent suicide and self-injury: Understand the meaning and value of life, learn to cherish life, and learn how to deal with suicide and self-injury tendencies and behaviors in people around you.

3.为优点喝彩：能够客观的认识自己的优点和优势，建立稳定的自尊和自信，学会扬长避短；

Applaud for your strengths: Able to recognize your strengths, establish self-esteem and self-confidence, and learn to develop your strengths and avoid weaknesses;

4.建立边界，表达自我：了解自己的边界和界限，学会表达自己的想法和情绪；

Establish boundaries and express yourself: Understand your boundaries, and learn to express your thoughts and emotions;

5.两性交往，相互尊重：树立性别意识，接纳自己的性别特点，在两性交往中学会保护自己，尊重对方；

Emphasize gender awareness: Accept your own gender characteristics, learn to protect yourself and respect each other;

6.悦纳环境，尊重他人：能够适应并接受目前的学习和生活环境，能够尊重环境和人的差异性和变化性；

Accept the environment and respect others: Be able to adapt and accept the current learning and living environment, and to respect the differences and variability of the environment and people;

7.预防霸凌，人人有责：了解哪些行为是霸凌行为，遇见或者遭遇霸凌应该如何应对。

Prevent bullying: Understand what is bullying and what to do when you encounter bullying.

2020年的科学周受疫情影响是在线上开展活动，孩子们的创作受到了诸多限制，但2021科学周如期在线下举行，他们很开心能尽情施展才华，提前开始进行科学周主题作品的创作，他们精美的作品会在活动结束后揭晓。先让我们回顾下前几年科学周的精彩集锦吧！

The Science Week in 2020 was held on line due to the impact of the pandemic, which caused a lot of restrictions to the creation of kids. To everyone’s pleasure, the Science Week in 2021 has been launched offline as planned. Being excited about the opportunity to fully exploit their talent, students started working on the theme works of the Science Week ahead of time, and their wonderful works are expected at the end of the event. Now, let’s review the highlight works of the Science Weeks in the past years!

为了丰富师生的校园生活，增进学生学习科学的兴趣，以及进一步拓展视野，了解科学对社会与生产生活的深远影响，我校于5月10~14日举行科学周主题活动。STEAM团队精挑细选活动的项目，争取在一周的时间里，能让孩子们高效地掌握有关科学主题课程的精华。内容包含有科学课题展演、无人机综合体验、科学周原版书展、科学周科普讲座、STEAM科学教育峰会、“太空农场”揭牌仪式、灾难食品的品尝等。

To enrich the campus life of teachers and students, enhance student’ interest in learning science, further expand their horizons and make them understand the profound influences of science on society, production and life, the theme activities of the Science Week will be organized during May 10th-14th in VKBS. The projects carefully selected by STEAM team for the activities will enable students to grasp the essence of the courses on science topics effectively in one week. The projects include Exhibition and Performance of Science Topics, Comprehensive Experience of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Original Book Fair of the Science Week, Science Popularization Lectures of the Science Week, STEAM Science Education Summit, Opening Ceremony of the “Space Farm” and Emergency Food Tasting, etc.

神奇的科学现象

无人机是一种应用于各种科技领域的高科技活动，广泛应用于农业、摄影、低空探险、表演和通讯信息等领域。正值学校五周年校庆，利用无人机进行主题式表演，部分低空无人机摄影的取景，以及高年级同学对无人机的各类体验是一项融科技、艺术、竞技等于一体的项目，具有极强的科普性，可以锻炼参与者的动手、动脑能力。

UAVs are high-tech products widely applied in various fields of science and technology, including agriculture, photography, low-altitude adventure, performance and communication information. Right at the fifth anniversary of the school, UAVs are used for thematic performances. Part of the low-altitude UAV photography, as well as the experience of senior students on UAVs, is a combination of science and technology, art and competition, which plays a very effective role in the popularization of science. It also serves as an opportunity for participants to exercise their hands and mind.

科学周书展是科学周的特色活动之一，学生可以在科学周里选购自己喜欢的各类英文版科学书籍以及学习套装。我校为孩子们搭建更加广阔的学习平台，让他们在学习课本知识的同时，还能够选择和拥有更加专业的科技书籍以及学习资源。

The Original Book Fair is one of the theme activities in the Science Week, where students can purchase science books and learning box sets in English they like. VKBS aims to provide kids with a broader learning platform, so that they can choose more professional science and technology books and learning resources while learning textbook knowledge.

GKN Aerospace （吉凯恩航空）的飞机设计工程师。硕士毕业于英国克兰菲尔德大学飞机设计专业。本科毕业于西班牙马德里理工大学航空航天工程。

She is a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and an aircraft design engineer at GKN Aerospace. She graduated from the Cranfield University (UK) as an undergraduate majoring in aircraft design and from The Technical University of Madrid (Spain) as a graduate majoring in aerospace engineering.

The General Manager of the Shanghai Tainiu Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.

华东师范大学河口海岸研究院，海洋化学博士。博士期间研究方向为海洋大气中金属元素的迁移以及铅同位素的研究。负责核磁共振技术在科研领域的积累向K12课堂的转化，提供基于磁共振的研究性学习整体解决方案。

He got his doctorate degree at the Institute of Estuary and Coastal Research, East China Normal University majoring in marine chemistry. During his PhD’s study, his research interests included the migration of metal elements in the ocean atmosphere and the study of lead isotopes. He focuses on the transformation of the accumulation of nuclear magnetic resonance (MRI) technology in the field of scientific research into K12 classroom, and provides the overall solution of research learning based on MRI.

在STEAM探索火星项目课程中，学生们自制探索火星的模型，并且学校专门设立了一个“太空农场”种植基地，种植的太空蔬菜有玉米、豇豆、黄瓜、香炉瓜、太空辣椒、茄子和番茄等。孩子们通过亲自实践种植，从育种，移栽，成长到收获果实，了解种植过程中的辛劳，观察记录太空育种与普通品种的异同点。“太空农场”不仅提供给学生更多动手实践的机会，激发学生的想象力与创造力，还可以丰富学生的学习体验，培养学生学习科学的兴趣。

In the course of STEAM Mars Exploration Project, students will make models for Mars exploration themselves. In a “space farm” set up by the school to grow corn, cowpeas, cucumbers, Cucurtbita maxima Duch., space peppers, eggplants, tomatoes and other space vegetables, children will learn about the hard work by experiencing the planting processes (breeding, transplanting, growing, and fruit harvesting), and observe and record the similarities and differences between space breeding and common varieties. The “space farm” can provide students with more opportunities of practice, stimulate their imagination and creativity, enrich their learning experience and develop their interest in learning science.

In VKBS, children are provided various of interesting PE curriculums except from high-standard academic curriculums. For example, rock climbing, rowing, inline hockey, golf，basketball, soccer, rugby, baseball, etc. These PE curriculums meet the sports needs of children of all ages, stimulating their love for sports and the spirit of fighting bravely.

攀岩运动是一项除了对身体的锻炼外，也是对精神的磨练，能够培养孩子坚定向上的信念，提升思考与判断能力，克服内心的恐惧，专注于脚下的每一步才能成功。我们拥有专业的攀岩基础设施和出色的教练团队，是沪上第一家“全国攀岩特色学校”。

Rock Climbing strengthens children’s muscle and tests their will. It also motivates children to keep upward, promotes their ability of thinking and judging and overcomes inner fears to focus on every step towards success. We are the first “National Rock-Climbing Specialty School” in Shanghai with professional rock-climbing infrastructure and excellent coach team.

The Chancellor of VKBS, Wang Shi, once said, “What makes one’s personality sound is to climb to the two peaks in life: mentality and physical strength.”

在美国哈佛大学和英国剑桥大学作为访问学者进修期间，正是运动这一国际语言帮助王石迅速融入了新的环境。访学归来的王石将赛艇运动带进了校园，全球先进的室内赛艇训练中心由此诞生，而它就位于闵行万科双语的校园内。

It was sports, the international language, that helped Wang Shi quickly adapted to the new environment when he studied as a visiting scholar at Harvard University in the US and Cambridge University in the UK. After returning to China, he brought rowing into the school and the world’s most advanced indoor rowing training center was established at VKBS.

学校的赛艇中心拥有标准的赛艇训练桨池，具有丰富的教研及国家级专业教练资源。专业的赛艇课程体系已获得万科集团、亚洲赛艇联合会、剑桥大学赛艇队、牛津大学赛艇队等组织的大力支持与合作交流。

We have standard rowing training paddle pool, rich teaching and research experience and skilled coaches. Our professional rowing curriculum system has gotten great supports and exchanges from many organizations, including Vanke Group, Asian Rowing Federation, Cambridge Rowing Team, Oxford Rowing Team.

我校学生加入的德英乐青少年赛艇队，参加了第二届世界名校赛艇邀请赛，与哈佛大学、麻省理工大学等世界顶尖名校学生同场竞技；在中国赛艇大师赛青少年组、中国赛艇公开赛青少年组等比赛中均获得非凡战绩。

Our students in the DTD Junior Rowing Team participated in the JIANGXI VANKE YIDA CUP 2nd World Leading Universities and competed with students from world top universities, including Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. They also achieved extraordinary results in China Rowing Masters Championship (Junior Group), China Open Rowing Championship (Junior Group), etc.

陆地冰球来源于冰球，是国际冰球联合会管辖下的一个正式竞技体育项目。我校陆地冰球队参加过的几场超级联赛成绩颇佳！2019年万科双语校队以全程积分第一，轻松拿下秋季联赛冠军之宝座。2020年再战秋季联赛蝉联冠军。上海市轮滑运动协会授予“人才培养基地”称号。

Inline Hockey, derived from ice hockey, is an official competitive sport under the jurisdiction of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Our Inline hockey team has done well in several super league matches! In 2019, VKBS ranked first in the whole process of scoring and won the championship of the autumn league easily. In 2020, we won the championship again in the autumn league. Shanghai Rolling Skating Association awarded VKBS with the title of “Talent Training Base”.

陆地冰球运动不光是拼体力、拼技巧、拼战术，更重要和更高层次的是智力与心理的比拼。此项运动连贯性极强、集体配合严密、竞技性要求很高，无论是有控球还是无球的滑行奔跑，都需要队员的视野开阔、头脑冷静、时刻观察各种变化。其速度之快，与不确定因素之多，是其它运动项目所不能比拟的。

Inline hockey requires not only physical power, skills, and tactics, but also intelligence and mentality that are more vital and high-level. The sport requires strong consistency, tight collective cooperation, and highly competitive requirements. Whether glide running with or without the ball, the players need to be visionary, level-headed, and always observe the changes. Its speed and uncertainties make it incomparable with other sports.
